Fandeck has no account and no server. You open the app and scan. Cards are read on your iPhone and kept there.
Why most scanners want an account
Most card scanner apps upload every card to their own cloud, read it there, and keep a copy. The account is how they tie your contacts to you, and often how they charge you to get them back. The people on those cards never agreed to any of that.
How Fandeck does it instead
- No sign-up. There is no email, password or login. Purchases go through your Apple ID, like any app.
- Read on the phone. Cards are read with the text recognition built into iOS. Photos are never uploaded to be read.
- Stored on the phone. Your cards live on your iPhone, not on our server. We don't have one.
- Works offline. Scanning, search, events and reminders all work without a signal.
Getting your cards out
Your cards leave your iPhone only when you send them. You can add them to Contacts, share a single card, export everything as CSV or vCard, or, with Fandeck Business, push a contact straight to your own CRM.
Because there is no copy on a server, back up with export from Settings before you change phones. Anyone you've added to Contacts follows your iCloud Contacts to a new phone.
